Sirdal
The mountain municipality. Kvæven, Sinnes and Tonstad, power and alpine.
S irdal is Lister’s northernmost municipality and Norway’s top power-producing municipality per capita. It stretches the length of Sirdalen and up into the high mountains, with hydropower as its economic backbone and the alpine resort at Sinnes/Kvæven as its winter draw. Here, the mountains set the pace: long days on skis in winter, long evenings around the grill in summer, and year-round jobs in the power industry throughout.
Up the valley.
Sirdal runs the length of the valley: Tonstad at the bottom, Sinnes in the middle, Kvæven at the top where the mountains begin.
