Ann Helen and Erlend moved to Davik
After years in the city they swapped the commute for the fjord at Davik, and found they suddenly had far more time together.
Together with their daughter Pernille (2), Ann Helen and Erlend live high and free, with a view over the village and the fjord. They moved to Davik in October, and the next generation, little Pernille, is the fifth generation in the family’s detached house.
Five generations under one roof
«We moved to Davik in October, and my parents use the other part as a holiday home,» Erlend says. The house has been in the family for generations, and with Pernille a fifth has now arrived in it. She is the fifth generation in the detached house.
Both Ann Helen and Erlend qualified as social workers (sosionomar) and got jobs in Stavanger. Ann Helen is from Bergen. They chose Rogaland anyway, where Erlend had grown up.
A boat, a kindergarten, and a network
Now they have settled in Davik with their own boat, and Pernille likes the kindergarten. Here they have a network around them.
The dialect is shifting too. Pernille no longer says «skoleklokke» but «skuleklokke» — the Nordfjord dialect is on its way.
They’ll come. They just need a little time.
— Erlend
The ones who will follow
What about other newly qualified people the same age as Ann Helen and Erlend — are they considering moving to Bremanger? Erlend smiles at the question.
They live high and free, with a view over the village and the fjord, in the house his family has had for generations.
