Around 10 million kroner a year goes into making the move worth it. These are the main schemes — each link goes to the municipality for the full terms.

01 200 000 kr

Housing grant

A one-off 200,000 kr toward buying, building or renovating your own home — for first-time establishers under 50 who settle in Bremanger. It is paid as a grant secured against the home and written down 20% a year: stay five years and it is fully yours; move sooner and you repay only the part not yet written down.

02 25 000 kr a year

Student-debt write-off

A national Lånekassen scheme for less-central municipalities — and Bremanger qualifies. Live here and be in work and the state writes off 25,000 kr of your Lånekassen student loan each year — up to 125,000 kr over five years. There is no citizenship requirement, but it only covers debt held with Lånekassen: private bank loans or foreign student loans are not included, and only the loan itself, not interest or fees.

03 30 000 kr a year, up to 5 years

Bonus for new municipal staff

A start package for new permanent municipal hires who register as residents: 30,000 kr a year for up to five years — 150,000 kr in all. It assumes a full-time post (pro-rated for part-time), and teachers, nurses and social educators can qualify for even more.

Health staffing pool

Bremanger needs health workers — and through the staffing pool you do not have to move to help. You get a flexible rota, a travel grant and housing from 100 kr a night while you work here, with varied shifts and good rest between them in a landscape you will not forget. (You are very welcome to stay, of course.)
