Eirik and Ronja moved to Kalvåg
A young couple choosing the coast. In Kalvåg they found space, low costs, and the kind of life they wanted to build.
They are both from Bremanger, and after Ronja finished her teacher training they moved home to Kalvåg. They have renovated an older house, started a plumbing firm, and welcomed a daughter — and they say life on the coast simply works for them.
Home to Kalvåg after their education
After Ronja finished her teacher training, the couple moved home to Kalvåg and Bremanger municipality. They are both from the municipality and came home once their education was done.
But Ronja never got to start work as a teacher. Little Wilma was born in the autumn of 2024, and in parallel Eirik started his own firm as a plumber. When the maternity period is over, the education as an educator will come in handy for Ronja.
Everything they need outside the door
Eirik says they have renovated an older house, and that the household finances benefit from them living and working in Bremanger. Ronja points out that they have a gym, a restaurant and a shop right outside the door.
It is also easy to get further afield. The boat goes directly from Smørhamn to Bergen, and if you want to go to Oslo it takes an hour by plane from Florø. Ronja adds that Florø, Måløy and Nordfjordeid are all easy to reach from Bremanger, because the communications are good.

Living more freely on the coast
They are both in the second half of their twenties, and they say they live more freely in Bremanger because they have a good economy thanks to low housing prices and good local terms.
«Public-sector pay is the same. In the private sector it is probably a bit different, but the total for us is very good,» says Ronja.
