Fish has always been central to life in Stø, located at the northern tip of Langøya in Vesterålen. It still is, especially in winter when the spawning cod makes its arrival. There is a fish reception facility here, and they have plenty to do. A fifteen-minute drive away lies Myre, the largest fishing harbor in Norway.

During the summer, Stø transforms into a sought-after destination for tourists. There's plenty happening in the village during the summer, although it's never difficult to find peace and tranquility for those seeking it. A couple of minutes' walk from the harbor in Stø leads to the beautiful sandy beach Skipssanden, perfect for taking in the beautiful surroundings and fresh sea air.
Visitors can embark on whale and seal safaris, try their hand at deep-sea fishing, or visit seabird colonies – to name a few activities. Just outside Stø lies the Stø/Nyksund Nature Reserve, an important breeding ground for seabirds.

The Queen's Route earned its name after Her Majesty Queen Sonja, who first walked the trail in 1994. This hiking trail, taking between five to eight hours, offers many experiences. It covers approximately 15 kilometers and runs between the fishing villages of Stø and Nyksund. Along the way, the trail meanders along the coast and over mountain peaks at 400 meters altitude, offering stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean.
