First, thanks for joining! I am truly amazed by the response we have gotten from so many talented, hard-working, positive people out there. Your enthusiasm is contagious! I wish I could write to you personally; I really do.
My name is Marion, and I’m the founder of Freysta. Born and bred at a mountain sheep farm in Solheim in stunning Nordfjord, at the farm my dad still runs. I visit every time I get the chance, let me tell you. Running after sheep is better than any running mill that exists! It was a childhood filled with nature, animals, climbing trees and that special kind of peace you get from exploring leaves in the fall. Oh, and fish.

Unfortunately, I’m a big nerd and all thumbs. It quickly became clear to me that I’d never be a great sheep farmer, hehe! I’m going to leave that part to my younger brother when the time comes. However, I still wanted to work for rural Norway, in my own way.

A lot of the things we take for granted; clean air, water and food, could benefit so many more people out there. There are plenty of villages that greatly would welcome new residents – and there are many fine folks out there who would like to try out a Norwegian village. To live in, or simply visit. But the information online about the different places were fragmented and often hard to find. Or in Norwegian.
I concluded that a better link between people and places was needed. The idea of Freysta was born, and we’ve now been up and running in a few short summer months. And the response has been a joy! Freysta will keep on expanding with more villages, new functions that will benefit the members (we start with the job market), more articles, housing ads and so on. It’s the first portal of its kind in Norway, so the process is really exciting.
In Freysta, my goal is to help you finding your Norwegian dream village; days filled with another pulse, closer to nature. As Freysta members, your information is sent to our cooperating municipalities, and as opportunities arrive in form of available housing and job openings, they contact Freysta members. Some of you may have gotten a call or an e-mail already, and I hope for many matches between people and places. After all, here in Norway the media have labeled Freysta “the Tinder for villages”. Well, one thing is for sure. Freysta is the very first searchable Norwegian village portal, so the matchmaking opportunities are right there.

This newsletter will be sent out when we feel there is some relevant information to be shared; jobs, houses for rent, new villages to take notice of, and articles I hope you’ll enjoy. If you have input, questions, tips to articles or other things on your mind, don’t hesitate to send me an e-mail at marion@freysta.com.
Again, thank you. I really hope I get to meet some of you in person someday, as you arrive in the Norwegian village that is best suited for you. I and my Freysta team will do our best to help you with just that.
All the best,
Marion
